The category

What the words mean,
as of this morning.

Six terms for the material itself. Usage varies by audience and, in one case, by whether the audience is a buyer.

LLM slopnoun
Text generated by a language model in volumes that exceed any demand for it. Our category, and the one we lead by every measure we publish.
AI slopnoun
The same material, in the phrasing people use when they are not buying it. Both spellings arrive here.
Slopnoun, unqualified
What the category was called before it had vendors, a conference and a pricing page.
Model collapsenoun
The decay that sets in when models are trained on model output. Eleven generations in, we cannot tell you which one you are reading.
Corpusnoun
Everything ever written, plus everything written since to describe it.
Watermarkingnoun
A mark that lets generated text be identified later. Ours is the prose.

The product

Six terms that appear
on the invoice.

These are shipped features. Each was named before it was built, which shortened the roadmap considerably.

Dashformer™noun, trademarked
Our em dash engine. One dash per fourteen words, the density at which a sentence begins to sound considered. See the feature list.
Delve Modenoun
A vocabulary layer that replaces the word you meant with the word a model would have reached for. Team plan and above.
Not X, But Ynoun, construction
The industry-standard sentence structure. Licensed per seat, because it could not be patented.
Human in the loopnoun phrase
A configuration in which a person is notified. The notification is the whole of it.
Regenerationnoun
Running the same request against the same inputs and shipping whichever result arrives second.
Brand voicenoun
The three documents uploaded at onboarding. They are held in the region you selected and have never been opened.

The measurements

Six numbers,
five of which go up.

The category's metrics, with the definitions we use when we report them. Methodology is on the benchmark.

Words per idea (WPI)noun, metric
Words emitted per original idea. Higher is better. llm-slop 4.1 scores 41,000.
Content velocitynoun, metric
Output over time. The definition contains no term for arrival.
Time to first draftnoun, metric
Measured from the request. There is no equivalent metric for the second draft.
Read ratenoun, retired
Retired in 2024. It was the only number that went down.
Answer engine optimisation (AEO)noun, practice
Writing for the model that answers the question rather than the person who asked it. The person is downstream. So is the question.
Zero-idea architecturenoun
A design in which no component depends on an idea, so no component can be blocked by one.

Definitions are reviewed annually by the platform that applies them. Suggested additions are accepted and generated.
